Re-Building Aleppo

Aleppo is a city of Layers made of stories and memories from different cultures interacting in the same city but in different spaces. This project proposal is to respect those layers and allow the different communities to coexist in the same space.

We identified important spots in the city that give identity to its inhabitants called "nodes". From each node, connections will be created therefore transition and meeting spaces are going to appear, giving way to new nodes that will later weave with each other. Each node has an elemnt of Aleppo´s social or historical past that is going to characterize each space, merging these elements to return and attract the city´s inhabitants in order to develop a new community life. Through time this process will result in an organic regeneration of the city.

This projectwipes out ohysical, political and cultural limits in the city, which can result in a fusion between public and private spaces. The goal is to regenerate the city´s public spaces in relation with the private ones, reuniting the people  and the city after so many years of conflicts.
